Common and Classic Folk and Peasant Plant Life Theme Color Book Art

Folk art paintings, stitchery and decorations commonly include some type of lush plants, trees or foliage to complete or fill the landscape.

Trees can be depicted as simply as stick figures for pines and fir branches or with bushy trees complete with ripe fruit filling their branches.

The species of tree will usually match the type of tree most commonly grown in the geographic region in which the artist lives or is most familiar, example; breadfruit trees in Hawaiian islands, apple trees in Washington state, spruce pineapple galls in Norway, etc.

Plants and foliage vary greatly in design from potted plants to strands of ivy with blossoms for ornate borders, fields of wheat or grain, individual grains of wheat or rice, cucumbers and other foods such as fruits (cherries, plums, pineapples and apples), simple clumps of bushes, to abstract references to burning bush or the tree of life for religious significance.

Some of the images in this section are variations of plant images commonly appearing on traditional Ukranian Pysanky Easter eggs and other folk art designs.
